Icelandic Topographic:
Nowhere on earth is free from human alteration.
This series explores the relationship between people and the landscape. Taking inspiration from the work of the “New Topographics” I photographed this subject from an objective perspective, not glorifying or condemning the work of humanity in these scenes but instead letting the reality of this complex dynamic speak for itself. Iceland presented the perfect environment to produce this work as it is a relatively young and dramatic landscape shaped by the movement of continents, shifting of vast glaciers and continuous volcanic eruptions. This landscape is the perfect backdrop to show the power of humanity to change and alter the land in a way that rivals the most powerful geological forces on the planet.
